CAT6E VS CAT6A

Category 6 cable  (CAT6) is standardized twisted pair of cables used for ethernet and other physical layers of transmitting data compatible with Category 5, Category 5e, and Category 3.

Category 6e is one of the types of CAT6 that have significant advancement over regular CAT 6 cables. They are not formally recognized by the technical organization, but they are still produced by manufacturers which offer the same speed are matches the regular CAT6. They have better resistance to radio interaction than regular ones.

Category 6a is one of the types of CAT 6 that are formally recognized by technical organizations. They offer greater data speed and longer runs than regular ones.  They have better resistance to radio ineffective than the regular ones.

Comparison Between Cat 6a and Cat 6e

Cat 6e

  • Maximum 100 meters or 328 feet after this length data speed drops off and it offers a data rate double the length of regular ones.
  • Transmits frequency up to  250mhz to 500mhz.
  • It can transfer 1 Terabyte of data in 3 hours.
  • Commonly used in home networks and office phone lines.
  • A data rate of 1000 BASE-TX
  • IT will support up to 1 GB of data per second.
  • The cable diameter is 6.1mm
  • Pull tension of maximum up to 25lbs.

Cat 6a

  • Maximum 100 meters or 328 feet after this length data speed drops off and it offers a data rate double the length of regular ones.
  • Transmits frequency over 600mhz
  • They can transfer 1 Terabyte of data in 20 minutes.
  • They are mostly used in data centers and office networks.
  • A data rate of 1000 BASE-T.
  • It will support up to 10GB of data per second.
  • The cable diameter is 8.38mm.
  • Pull tension of a maximum up to 25 lbs.

Conclusion

Cat 6a is more advanced and it was recognized by several organizations. It can transmit data over 10 times faster than the Cat 6e and the regular Cat 6 cables. Depending upon the use we can select cable for home networks and telephone lines normal Cat 6 is more than enough. For advanced operations like data centers and networking Cat 6a is needed. We conclude that Cat 6a is more advanced and has significant advantages than the other Category 6 cables.
